Lifestyle Medicine for the Brain: An Introduction to Brain Health, Fitness, and Performance

The Academy for Brain Health and Performance is offering an exclusive introduction course, Lifestyle Medicine for the Brain, to all MFA members interested in adding brain health expertise to their fitness and wellness practice. The Lifestyle Medicine for the Brain introduction online certificate course can be completed over 3 self-paced hours (six half-hour modules). We will offer this introductory course twice, February 20th and March 20th.

Meet Samantha Dumas, SSP, NCSP

Say hi to Samantha Dumas, SSP, NCSP, the Group Exercise Coordinator and Group Exercise Instructor at the Fitness Center of Thibodaux Regional in Thibodaux, LA. Samantha has a BA in Psychology and a Specialist degree in School Psychology (SSP). She has been with the Fitness Center of Thibodaux Regional for two years as an instructor and one year as the Group Exercise Coordinator.

Say hi to Kierstin Mitchell BA, CPT, CES, the Field Medical Integration/Group Exercise Manager at the William G. Rorher Center for HealthFitness in Voorhees, NJ. Kierstin has a BA in Health and Exercise Science with a Specialization in Health Promotion and Fitness Management and is the 2018 MFA Rising Star for the Northeast Region. She has been with the William G. Rorher Center for HealthFitness for eight years.

Government Shutdown Prevents PHIT Act Vote

According to Club Industry, the PHIT (Personal Health Investment Today) Act was “stymied from being passed by the U.S. Senate by the government shutdown on December 22, 2018. The legislation now awaits re-introduction in both the House and Senate in 2019.”
