Position Summary:
The Exercise Specialist is responsible for providing clients safe and appropriate exercise programming.  The Exercise Specialist will develop, implement and evaluate individual and group exercise programs for participants within the medical integration programs.

Essential Functions:
 - Assess the client's needs to determine the best, most appropriate programming option

 - Conduct pre- and post-assessment evaluations, and physiological assessments (movement and posture assessments, blood pressure checks, body composition tests)

 - Follow up with participant to encourage ongoing program participation or membership at the facility

 - Logs client histories and administers selected assessment tests to determine the appropriate program (aerobic exercise, strength, nutrition, behavior modification)

 - Monitor the progress, performance, and tolerance of program participants in their prescribed exercise regimens

 - Maintain records reflecting up-to-date participant progress

 - Collect, enter, and evaluate patient data

 - Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their exercise sessions

 - Maintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor environment for the medical integration programs

 - Support, teach, and encourage program participants to meet their goals

 - Establish relationships with external constituents to generate referrals to medical integration programs

 - Provide patient educational presentations and behavior modification plans for participants

 - Guide the patient toward a support group, if needed

Other Functions:
 - Work together as a team with all departments

 - Develop relationships throughout the facility and encourage member referrals

 - Enforce policies such as no cell phone use, no backpacks, and no open-toed shoes on the fitness floor

 - Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings and continuing education classes to keep certification current

 - Assist in development and implementation of new medically integrated programs/classes

Minimum Job Requirements:

Required Education:
4-year college degree in fitness related field

Preferred Experience:
Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field.  ACLS certification.  Previous health club personal training experience.  Previous experience in one or more of the following: cardiac rehabilitation, high risk clients, or special populations.

Specific Skills:
Communication skills, customer service oriented, friendly personality, positive attitude, and computer skills (MS Office applications)

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.:
 - Current knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: cardiac fitness (cardiac rehab phase III), pulmonary fitness, cancer fitness, diabetes fitness, nephrology, amputee fitness, pre/post natal fitness, back/spine health, pre/post bariatric surgery fitness, fitness for stroke victims, American Heart Association (Heartsaver), or American Red Cross (CPR/AED, First Aid)

 - Current knowledge and/or experience in exercise physiology, nutrition, emergency procedures, health education, and behavior modification theories

 - Operational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper form

 - Knowledge of appropriate exercises for specific muscle groups

 - Knowledge of basic movement and posture assessments and body composition assessments

 - Ability to calculate target heart rate

 - CPR, AED, First Aid certifications

 - Minimum one (1) nationally recognized certification from one of the following: ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, NSPA, ISSA, NCEP

 - Willing to obtain American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist certification within the first year of hire

Supervisory responsibility, if any:  None

Working Conditions:  Fitness club environment

Physical Requirements:  Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds, ability to spot a client lifting weights, ability to walk, sit, stand, and bend

All applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field and nationally recognized personal training certification.  A Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field, ACLS certification, previous health club personal training experience, previous experience in one or more of the following: cardiac rehabilitation, high risk clients, or special populatons are a plus.  Applicants should be dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, have good attention to detail, must be committed to rigorous customer service standards and will maintain only the highest level of integrity.

This is a part-time or full-time position.

Qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree in a health-related field.  A Master’s degree in business or a health care related field is preferred.  Five years relevant experience plus three years of progressive management and professional experience with authority for budget, personnel, and operation in a health care setting, Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky if applicable.  The Director of the HealthPark is responsible for the leadership, fiscal and operational management of HealthPark Services which includes: Health Resource Center, Golden Partners, Diabetes Health Resource Center, Outpatient Nutritional Counseling, Nursing Outreach, Membership, Fitness, and Aquatics.  The Director’s duties include maintaining age-appropriate patient care and regulatory standards through coordination and management of personnel and resources.  The Director promotes the organization’s Mission and Core Commitments.  The Director demonstrates sound business judgments and clinical management strategies to maintain and improve quality; insure established financial goals; meet compliance with Federal, State, Medicare, Medicaid, and JCAHO, and other regulatory standards.  The Director is responsible to develop, implement, and communicate a business and strategic plan for the service line, which is aligned with and supports the corporate strategic initiatives.

Powell Wellness Center, Culpeper, VA

Position: Wellness Services Coordinator

Description:
The Wellness Services Coordinator has direct oversight for all medically integrated and fitness components.  Specifically, the Wellness Services Coordinator will be responsible for human resource management, financial and operational management for each department.  The Coordinator will also be responsible for ongoing service excellence training and development within each department.

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.  The employee may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below and specific functions may change from time to time.

Qualifications:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum    requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology required.  MS highly preferred.  Personal Training Certification or its equivalent that is accredited by the NCCA.  CPR/AED certification.

1 – 3 years experience in exercise environment with previous management experience.  Previous experience in a medically integrated facility preferred.

Powell Wellness Center, Culpeper, VA

Position:  Fitness Manager   

Description:
The Fitness Manager has direct oversight for all Powell Wellness Center fitness components.  Specifically, the Fitness Manager will be responsible for human resource management, financial and operational management for each department.  The Manager will also be responsible for ongoing service excellence training and development within each department.

  8. Responsible for conducting eight member assessments per week, two new member orientations and working 10 hours on the fitness floor schedule.
  9. Responsible for fitness floor schedule and making sure the floor is covered during operating hours.
  10. Responsible for the hiring and training of staff for the departments supervised.
  11. Responsible for overseeing the cleaning of fitness equipment and coordinating all repairs with the Operations Coordinator and Operations Manager.

  24. Responsible for administering member Television/XM station survey bi-annually.
  25. Participates in the Manager on Duty rotation, to include weekends.
     

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or similar discipline.   Personal Training Certification or its equivalent that is accredited by the NCCA.  CPR/AED certification. 1 – 3 years experience in exercise environment with previous management experience.
