The webinar "Current Guidelines for Prenatal Fitness” will provide an overview that covers the effects of exercise on the physiological changes of pregnancy and fetal response. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines and research in the field of maternal fitness will be discussed, as well as the contraindications for exercise. Innovative techniques for modifying each component of a fitness program and guidelines for strength and flexibility training will be described.

Webinar Objectives:

Upon completion of this webinar, the participant will be able to:

-Identify the principal effects exercise has on the physiological changes of pregnancy.

-Describe how exercise impacts fetal stress response.

-Identify ACOG absolute and relative contraindications to exercise during pregnancy.

-Describe prenatal warning signs and symptoms to terminate exercise.

-List the four components of a prenatal exercise design.

-Describe how to develop a safe and effective strength and flexibility exercise program.

Catherine Cram is an exercise physiologist and specialist in the field of maternal fitness.
