Eating Disorders in a Fitness Setting: Recognition & Treatment





Learning Objectives:

1. Viewers will be able to list 3 symptoms that may indicate the presence of an eating disorder. 

2. Viewers will be able to explain the diagnostic indicators for excessive exercise and its role in the development of eating disorders.

3. Viewers will be able to identify risk factors for relapse to symptomatic levels of physical activity after a period of recovery from an eating disorder. 

Brief Overview:

Physical activity is an important part of mental and physical health, and yet unhealthy physical activity plays a role in many eating disorders. This presentation will inform viewers of the signs and symptoms of eating disorders and excessive exercise. Viewers will gain an understanding of the etiology of eating disorders, specific diagnoses, and treatment best-practices. The complex relationship between eating disorders and physical activity related to eating disorder development, treatment, and recovery will be discussed.   

Continuing Education Credits (CECs):

This webinar has been approved for one contact hour by ACSM, and AKTA.
Current members of the association receive complimentary credits after completing post-webinar survey.
Non-members may purchase them for $25 after completing post-webinar survey.
Payment must be received before CEC can be issued.
