Meet Amy Upp
Amy Upp is currently the Director of Retail Services and Facilities at the McConnell Heart Health Center in Columbus, OH. After graduating with a BS Degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University and an MS degree in Health Promotion from Indiana University, she couldn’t wait to get into the health and wellness industry. Throughout her career, Amy has worked in various aspects of health and wellness including cardiac rehab, corporate health and wellness, fitness center management, and program design and implementation. She has been a member of the MHHC team since 2011, after relocating from Indiana following five years at the Healthplex Sports Club in Indianapolis. Amy’s current role includes oversight of all retail programming at MHHC, including a 62,00 square foot fitness center with a 4600 membership base. MHHC has achieved Medical Fitness Certification two times, most recently in 2016, and was the host for the 2017 Central Region Conference. In addition to Amy’s work inside the Center, she has also worked to share the impact of medical fitness in the community and with corporations. Through the partnership with the OhioHealth Employer Services division, the Center partners with over 30 Central Ohio businesses each year to support and lead their health and wellness initiatives as well as serve on the team that opened and continues to operate OhioHealth’s first onsite Corporate Fitness Center with additional sites set to open later this year.
Amy is proud to be the MFA Central Region Chair for the last year and has been involved in MFA over 10 years. Amy has spoken at both Regional and National meetings and received the 2017 Medical Professional of the Year Award for the Executive Director/General Manger category at the 2017 National Conference.
When Amy is not busy working, you will find her following around her 12 year old twins to soccer games, gymnastics meets, track meets, and musical concerts. She loves traveling with her family and husband of almost 17 years and finding ways to squeeze in as much time with them as possible.
