Meet Rich Gershom, FMFA
Rich has been an MFA member since 1996. He is the Director of LifeStyles, Bath and Community Access & Wellness for Cleveland Clinic Akron General Health & Wellness Center. Rich has a Bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and Biology from University of Mount Union. He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from the United States Sports Academy. Rich was a licensed/certified athletic trainer for 20 years. He has been in the Medical Fitness/Sports Medicine industry for 35 years. Besides Fitness Management positions he has held a variety of other positions during his career that include faculty positions at Mount Union and Ashland University and a football coach at Mount Union.
Rich is a Fellow of the MFA. He has been on the Board of Directors and has held numerous committee positions that include: Conference Committee & Co-Chair, Nominations committee, MFA Facility Lead Examiner and currently serves on the Membership Committee. He has been a speaker in a variety of conferences that include the National & Regional MFA meetings, the National Athletic Trainers Association’s National Meeting, the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association State meetings, and many local coaching clinics. He was also a volunteer athletic trainer for the USOC at the training facility at Lake Placid.
Rich has remained active in his communities, supporting many community initiatives over the years. He is an avid sports fan and has enjoyed watching his daughter compete on her High School and Collegiate athletic teams. He supports Mount Union Football and enjoys attending their football games. Other fun activities includes hiking & biking on the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Towpath Trail and movie night with his daughter. Finally, there is nothing better than enjoying family during cookouts and family outings!
