Meet Sue Parker, FMFA

Sue Parker, FMFA is a proud member and Fellow of the Medical Fitness Association.  Read her story.

I joined MFA approximately 20 years ago when I became the Aquatic Manager at Akron General LifeStyles in Akron, Ohio (now Cleveland Clinic/Akron General).  My role expanded to Recreation and Program Manager and I had the privilege to be an integral part of the building and opening of 2 other centers in Akron.  I could always count on my MFA resources to guide me through these responsibilities.

As a member of MFA, I have met many energetic and inspiring friends and mentors.  Via conferences, webinars, meetings and networking, I learned a lot of information that helped me grow both personally and professionally.  I served on committees, presented at conferences, became an MFA fellow and served on the Board of Directors.   The more active I became, the more motivated and knowledgeable I became.   These activities helped me to define who I am and what I stand for.

I am now newly retired from my management position with LifeStyles.  I continue to teach swim lessons and help where/when I can.  That is, when I am not traveling abroad, spending time with my family and grandchildren, biking, swimming, hiking, reading, learning languages….  and I am excited, to remain active in MFA,  to give back to a great organization and to continue a fun and active lifestyle that includes Exercise Is Medicine!  I am looking forward to meeting old and new friends at this year’s annual conference.
