DENVER, CO. — The groundbreaking for the $127 million expansion for Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri started in December 2012. The project will be completed in June 2016. This "Building on Excellence” expansion will feature a new main entrance, a five-story patient tower, Women and Children’s Pavilion and an Orthopedic and Neurosciences Center. These additions combined will add 217,000 square-feet to SFMC, bringing the total to1.6 million square-feet.

Patients and their visitors will now have the convenience and luxury of all private hospital
rooms. Private rooms will be a great way to minimize the spread of infection and give patients privacy with their physicians, family, and friends.

SFMC and OLC have had a growing relationship more than 10 years. In addition, OLC has teamed with Davis Partnership, an architecture firm specialized in healthcare facility design. Discussion for this expansion began 3 years ago and has now reached the design phase. Kiefner Bros will be completing the construction in 3 years. Patients and visitors will experience an enhanced medical experience after the project is complete.

This collaboration represents a bold mix of client knowledge and industry design expertise
brought together in support of the Saint Francis tradition of innovation in healthcare.
