A Message from the Interim President and CEO

Dear Medical Fitness,
Today marks my 9thday on the job as your Interim President and CEO of the Medical Fitness Association. As many of you know, I have been involved in MFA from its earliest days and I consider it a great privilege to be asked to step in at this time to provide direction and leadership to this great organization.
As I was thinking how best to convey to you my thoughts on the future of MFA, I was drawn back to why I got involved in the first place. MFA has within its membership people who are passionate about prevention and health promotion; wonderful, inventive, innovators who are constantly searching for new ways to create bonds within and across the continuum of care in their communities; thought leaders who think broadly about the potential our association holds for influencing the national discussion on healthcare especially with the impending implementation of the Accountable Care Act and its emphasis on population health management; and a proactive board that provides strong guidance to help us continue to improve as individual members and facilities.
In short, what drew me to the Medical Fitness Association is the people. I invite you to join with me in getting as deeply involved as you dare. As in most endeavors, the more you are involved, the more you get back from your membership. We are in the process of providing new energy to the committees, the regions, our vendor relationships and our certification process. We need YOUR help and input for us to achieve our potential. Tell us what you would like to see us do more, or less; how we can make our website a greater benefit and information resource for you. Help us reach out to your peers regionally and draw in new members, or ask a former member to rejoin the fold. We are building an army from the ground up and we frankly, can’t do it without you. This is, ultimately, your association and it will be what you ask of it. Come be a part of something great!
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the contribution of our vendor community to our success. These vendors think highly enough of us to invest in our future. I invite each of you to thoughtfully consider utilizing our Global Wellness Partner and Best Practice Partners who make so much of what we do possible.
Over the next few weeks I will be personally reaching out to many of you who are involved in the certification process and working to improve our responsiveness to your needs and requests in the office. As a member driven organization, it is our primary directive to help meet the needs of our membership and respond to your requests in a timely manner.
I’ll be in touch soon with more specifics. Please let us know if you are interested in setting our direction by participating in one of the following committees: Conference (2014), Outcomes, Education, or Physician Relations. Attend a webinar. Send your staff to a regional conference. Come to San Diego for the International Conference. In short, get involved! We are excited to be working together moving MFA forward.
