Meet Amanda Konigsberg
Say hi to Amanda Konigsberg, General Manager Active Wellness! She has been with Active Wellness for six years and in the fitness industry for 10 years. Amanda has her M.S. from West Virginia University.
Amanda is a speaker at the MFA Annual Conference this month. Her presentation is entitled, “2019 Strategies for Sales Leadership.”
We caught up with Amanda recently and here is what she had to say.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The people. Leading our team is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. It gives me a great sense of pride when our team delivers on our core values of authenticity, community, teamwork, innovation, versality, and excellence.
What has been your favorite/most successful initiative at your fitness/wellness center?
My favorite initiative over the past year would have to be our work with children with special needs. We developed an Autism and Fitness outcome driven program about two years ago and recently launched our first Special Olympics Swim Team.
What led you to choose this field?
I believe that we are in the happiness business. We can change people’s lives and make them healthier, that is a pretty cool business to be in.
What one piece of advice would you give to those just coming into this field of medical fitness?
Learn as much as you can about as much of the business as you can. Also, find a mentor to learn from. Who I am today is because of the mentors I have had over the years in the industry?
(Note: MFA offers a Mentorship program to members. If you would like to team up with an MFA Mentor, contact Jason Aslanian at jason.aslanian@medicalfitness.org)
Why did you become a member of the Medical Fitness Association?
We believe in delivering what we sell to our customers, outcomes and results. It is one of the reasons that we offer quarterly “Fit-Test” weeks to our customers to track and measure their progress. The Medical Fitness Association mission perfectly aligns with ours; it just makes sense for us to be a part of this wonderful organization.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I live in New York City so there is always something to do. I am really loving high intensity interval training, hot yoga, and swimming lately. I also love checking out new restaurants or cooking a recipe from the Times. My guilty pleasure is binge watching Netflix to unwind from a long day.
Are you involved in any charity/community work?
We are very involved in supporting Augie’s Quest for ALS at Active Wellness. We are unique because we are a management company with a variety of sites including commercial, community, corporate, and medically based fitness centers. This gives our team an exceptional opportunity to develop innovative fundraising efforts that make sense for our individual sites across the country. Personally, I am very involved in my community supporting and advocating for Jewish life and inclusion.
Thank you, Amanda and thank you for sharing your talent at the 2019 MFA Annual Conference!
