Meet David Evans

David Evans, FMFA has over 34 years of experience in the research, planning, development and management of hospital affiliated and corporate health and fitness centers.  He is a current Principal and co-founder of Meritage Healthcare Strategies which has provided consultative services to the medical fitness industry since 2002. He has consulted with over 100 healthcare organizations regarding feasibility, development, operations and performance of medically integrated fitness and wellness centers.

Prior to Meritage, David served for a combined sixteen years as the Director of the Baptist Hospital Fitness Center in Nashville and the Managing Director of the Baylor – Tom Landry Sports Medicine and Research Center in Dallas.  Additionally, he served as the Director of Preventive Health Services for Baylor Health Care System and was a Research Associate for the Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas.

David is also a former Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) having served as a head athletic trainer at the high school and collegiate levels, and was an assistant athletic trainer for two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

David is a Medical Fitness Association Fellow, Member of the MFA Board of Directors, Current Chairman of the MFA Certification Committee and frequent speaker at MFA conferences.  He is the 2015 recipient of MFA’s Hank Boerner Pioneer Award.

David and his wife, Kelley, have five children and ten grandchildren.  He enjoys traveling and anything outdoors.  His most memorial adventures include hiking with his wife and step-son, Dylan, in Denali National Park, Alaska, and backing for ten days with his step-son at Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico.
