Say hi to Del Stukel, Senior Fitness Specialist & Pilates Coordinator at Beacon Health & Fitness in South Bend, IN. Del has been with the facility for 22 years! In those years, she has earned the following certifications: AFAA Personal Training, AFAA Group Fitness, CLIMB Instructor, AFAA Parkinson’s Training, Yoga Fit, SCW Barre Certified, TRX Certified, Keiser Cycling Certified, and GRIT Certified. In her new role as Pilates Coordinator, she is excited to work closely with the Physical Therapists to incorporate Pilates in ways to serve their patients.

We caught up with Del recently and here’s what she had to say…
What drew you to fitness/Pilates for a career?
Making an impact in the lives of so many for the better. In my classes, I want people to know working out can be challenging yet fun where we can create relationships with those around us. I get the opportunity to engage with so many at one time it motivates me to keep finding ways to help these members to reach their goals.
What has been your favorite/most successful initiative during your time at BHF?
Wow this is hard to answer but the Pilates program has been an initiative which has been on-going and will continue. A big part of our success is having our Medical Director tell me he wanted our Physical Therapists to go through Pilates training.
What one piece of advice would you give those just starting out in medical fitness or Pilates?
Dream big and keep educating yourself to find ways you can help those around you.
