Meet Lisa Gallagher
Lisa is the Director of the Fitness Center at the Opelika Sportsplex & Aquatics Center in Alabama. She also serves as the South Central Regional Chair for the Medical Fitness Association for the past eight years and enjoys teaching at Southern Union State Community College.
After achieving her Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech, Lisa was a Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach. She has been on the management team of six different facilities. She was key in the development, hiring, policies, procedures, purchasing for and opening four of those facilities. Lisa moved to the Auburn area from VA, where she managed medically based and private fitness centers, worked with the YMCA and the Parks and Recreation Department. She was also Adjunct Faculty at Radford University.
Lisa has provided health screens and developed comprehensive wellness programs for community and corporate groups. She presents at state and local conferences and was a health and fitness columnist for Lee Magazine.
Lisa enjoys traveling with her husband, Tom. They have been to Hawaii, the Grand Canyon and New England as well as New Zealand, Croatia, France and Romania. They plan to go to Austria next year. She enjoys the outdoors, healthful living and going to car shows where Tom often wins top prize for his Shelby Cobra. When at home, Lisa is in charge of pruning shrubs and growing tomatoes on their ten-acre property.
Lisa and Tom love to spend time with their three beautiful and accomplished daughters. Kirsten has an MBA and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. She is Assistant Sand Volleyball at Georgia State University. Caitlin is finishing her MS in Biology from Columbus State University. She plans to take entry exams for Dental School. The eldest, Jen, is a successful restaurant manager and is due to have a baby in July!
