What do you enjoy most about your work?
Getting to understand and upgrade lives in a variety of environments and helping people achieve their unique and ambitious goals, is incredibly inspiring! We support athletes on their way to World Cup victories, Olympic gold medals, and league championships and provide the same level of dedication to every day performers looking to achieve their best at home and at work by living with less pain, more energy, and overall great health – this is what drives me every day and brings me joy.
Which innovation from your company do you feel has had the greatest impact on the fitness industry?
Our integrated methodology. We pioneered the concept of proactive health and human performance by bringing leading specialists across multiple disciplines, seamlessly integrated under one roof. Over the past 20 years, EXOS has found that the most important contributor to feeling and performing great day after day is having Purposeful Mindset, Nutrition, Movement, and Recovery habits. In other words, how you view life and accomplish goals, nourish the brain and body, quality movement, and return to a balanced state are all keys to health and performance that apply to everyone.
We’ve been able to then bring this EXOS system to people around the world in-person at facilities as well as through innovative technology to help us scale our coaches and provide people access to their personalized game plans wherever they are.
What are you most proud of when you talk about your company?
I’m most proud of the amount of lives we’ve impacted. From starting as a single location in Tempe, AZ in 1999 we’ve grown to over 200+ locations worldwide where we impact thousands of lives on a daily basis, and we’re excited to continue our responsibility advancing the field we started.
Across the million-plus lives we’ve touched, we’ve helped first responders, military members, professional athletes, large organizations and everyone in between in our quest to understand and upgrade lives and we continue to explore more ways to achieve our goals and help others achieve theirs. This is why I started EXOS (as Athletes’ Performance) in 1999, and what continues to bring us the most pride.
Why do you support the Medical Fitness Association as an Industry Partner?
From the beginning we’ve always wanted to help people achieve their best – whether that was our clients who trusted us or by empowering others in our industry with the knowledge and tools to best support their own clients who trusted them. The members of the Medical Fitness Association play a critical role in providing individuals a place to upgrade their health and performance with training, nutrition, physical therapy and other solutions, and we take great pride in supporting those members with tools and solutions such as facility management, technology and equipment solutions, and continuing education opportunities so that they can best support their members and those who trust their teams.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Spending time with my wife, our dogs, and our family are my greatest joy. I also enjoy mountain biking, flying, and living our methodology each day.
Thank you, Mark!
