Meet Natalie Johnson
Natalie Johnson, FMFA, is the Founder of Population Health Consultants, a company dedicated to assisting employers and healthcare systems with integrated well being strategies. She has been in the health management field for over 30 years and has an extensive background in exercise physiology, performance nutrition and behavioral modification. As a Personal Trainer, Sports Nutritionist and Health Coach Natalie uses these skills to create comprehensive solutions that start with a buy in from leadership and a wellbeing plan that has purpose. In addition to strategy design Natalie also provides leadership development programs and facilitation to companies globally on the power of health and its impact on performance and productivity.
Natalie has been an active member of MFA since 2007 when she made a career change from working in an academic institution to working in healthcare. She was hired as the Manager of Wellness for a medical health plan that supported 7 employers. She immediately noticed the gap in care that existed between the medical providers in the network and the health and wellness professionals provided by the plan. Although both were well trained in their fields there was zero evidence that they had every worked together collaboratively and it showed in the lack of communications, data and overall healthcare spend. In her efforts to find supportive ways to integrate medicine and wellness she discovered the Medical Fitness Association. She used the networking and educational opportunities to better understand the barriers that existed as well as best practices to integrate medical care with preventative approaches.
Natalie was the Florida Regional Chair for several years and then later appointed to the Board of Directors as an At-Large Director. She rotated off the Board after six years of service in 2018 and continues her volunteer work with a specific focus on the Physicians’ Task Force whose work includes planning the Physicians’ Educational Track at the annual Medical Fitness Association Conference.
