Say hi to Tom Johnston, the Founder of the Talent Optimizer Group. While he has 25 years in the fitness industry, he is a Certified Energy Leadership Coach and has a Certification in Applied Positive Psychology and is now helping leaders create people-first organizations equipped to adapt and thrive in today’s ever-changing business climate.
We caught up with Tom recently and here’s what he had to say…
What do you enjoy most about your work? Helping people do the work they love to do every day, so that together, we increase World Happiness.
What has been your favorite/most successful initiative in your fitness career?
My favorite experience was opening the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the first mixed-gender university campus in Saudi Arabia. Our mission was for KAUST to become the healthiest community in Saudi Arabia.
What led you to choose this field?
While working my way through college as a fitness instructor, I saw how regular exercise changed lives.
What one piece of advice would you give to those just coming into this field of medical fitness? Make sure medical fitness is fully integrated into your culture.
Why did you become a member of the Medical Fitness Association?
I want to support organizations that help people live long and live well.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I live in Denver, so Colorado is my playground. A few of my favorite things include cycling, skiing, climbing 14’ers and going to concerts at Red Rocks.
