For over a century, the evolution of biomarkers has mirrored the health challenges of society. In the early 20th century, biomarkers addressed acute diseases and survival; by mid-century, they focused on chronic disease risk factors like cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose. The late 20th century brought genomic and proteomic breakthroughs, enabling precision medicine and targeted therapies, especially in oncology. Yet, despite this progress, gains in healthspan have stalled. Our system remains optimized for diagnosing disease, not for defining or extending health.
This webinar challenges that paradigm. We will explore how biomarkers can be reimagined to capture functional capacity and resilience, moving beyond the absence of disease to measurable indicators of healthspan. Clinicians and performance professionals will learn the characteristics that define a good biomarker, how traditional and fitness-based metrics like VO₂max serve as leading predictors of longevity, and what emerging omics-based biomarkers (proteomics, metabolomics, epigenetics) reveal about human functional capacity.
By integrating clinical, performance, and cutting-edge molecular markers, practitioners can design longevity-focused programs that not only prevent disease but actively enhance quality of life, resilience, and performance. The future of healthcare will be defined not by disease management alone, but by the ability to measure and extend human healthspan.
Speaker: Dr. Brooks Leitner, CEO/Co-Founder of VO Health

Human movement is based on generating and leveraging energy from the ground. Through contractions of our muscles, we produce kinetic energy resulting in human movement. While ground reaction forces are necessary for human movement, understanding that all human movement is dependent upon rotation is important. Rotation is required for all basic physical tasks including brushing your teeth, walking the dog, driving your car etc. Furthermore, sporting activities on every level use ground reaction force to generate kinetic energy to move and rotate the body based on the demands of each individual sport.
In this webinar you will learn the concepts of rotary ground force training and “locking” the upper kinetic chain, how and when to select the best equipment options and how to integrate exercises that will enhance ROM and core muscular engagement. You will learn proper exercise techniques for foundational exercises using a wide range of equipment and be able to select the best equipment option based on the goal of the exercise. Learn coaching and cueing tips that you can utilize in your overall programming.
Learning Objectives
1. Understand why rotation, specifically thoracic rotation, is important for all individuals.
2. Describe the concept of “locking” the upper kinetic chain to enhance isolation of the thoracic spine and function of the hips and core musculature.

This webinar addresses a critical, often overlooked problem: many patients avoid resistance training due to misinformation, fear, or poor past experiences, while many clinicians feel unprepared to confidently guide patients through meaningful exercise conversations. This gap contributes to low engagement, stalled progress, and missed opportunities to influence long-term health outcomes through behavior change.
Attendees will learn how to use resistance training not just as an intervention, but as a behavior change strategy. Periodized resistance training programming—built on decades of evidence—naturally integrates progression, autonomy, and personal wins that strengthen self-regulation and intrinsic motivation. Clinicians will leave with the tools to assess a patient’s readiness, address common perceived barriers, and guide conversations using motivational interviewing techniques grounded in exercise science.
The baton is then passed to the fitness professional. This presentation equips fitness pros with a deeper understanding of how to implement optimal resistance training programs tailored to each client’s needs. These programs are designed not only to improve strength and conditioning but also to instill long-term habit formation and internal motivation. The result is a seamless, collaborative model where the clinician initiates the conversation and referral, and the fitness professional reinforces it through best-practice implementation and behavioral consistency.
This session is designed to bridge the gap between medicine and fitness. Whether you’re a clinician or a fitness professional, you’ll leave with a stronger grasp of how optimal resistance training connects with lifelong behavior change—and how your role is central to making that happen.

This webinar will cover my own best practices and lessons learned in working within groups of 6-10 people at a time in the Cooper Tracks hosted program at Shannon Health Club over the past 1.5 years time. I have worked with 10 different groups, men and women in 8 week cohorts (many as repeat program members) ages 60-87 years old who all have conditions of either diabetes, CVD, arthritis, or Cancer. Many with multiple conditions. Obesity is another condition many of the patients/members present with. Conditions common with advanced aging as well as the conditions above are most always present in these groups. This had lead me to adapt my previous training methods and delivery models (from healthy young and athletic populations) to best fit this population's needs in an effective, non-intimidating, safe way. I want share these best practices with others to allow them to deliver their expertise as a fitness professional to the aging populations they serve in their gyms and health clubs in the most optimal way.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the most effective ways to communicate with an older population of clientele when guiding them through exercises via wording, phrasing, and body language. This also applies to how to explain how exercise and physical activity impact their bodies in ways they can understand and appreciate.
2. Learn key tips in how to show and demonstrate exercises and movements in very clear ways that an older population client can grasp and follow easily. This also applies to the often difficult use of common exercise machines not built for those with mobility and ROM restrictions.
3. Understand some key factors that often get lost or missed with an older population in terms of technology use, hearing, MSK limitations, orthopedic limitations, cognitive barriers, and visual barriers as it applies to exercise performance, compliance, and learning.
Speaker: Joshua Hockett, Fitness Instructor and Exercise Physiologist at the Shannon Health Club
