Meet Katy Momirovic, BS, ACSM EP-C
Say hi to Katy Momirovic, Fitness Supervisor at LifeWorks of Southwest General in Middleburg Heights, OH. She has been with LifeWorks for the past six years.
Katy received her BS in Exercise Physiology from Ohio Northern University. She is also the 2020 recipient of the Central Region’s Rising Star award (Kudos, Katy!!).
We caught up with Katy recently and here’s what she had to say.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love working with a wide variety of people that all come to our facility for different reasons but have a common goal – to improve their health.
What led you to choose this field?
I started playing sports when I was 4 years old and haven’t stopped since so it was a natural transition for me to make this a career. I have always been in awe of what exercise can do for people. Something as simple as exercise can completely transform someone’s life. Not only can it make you feel strong and confident, but it can help someone get off of their medications, improve quality of life, and just make everyday life easier for people.
What one piece of advice would you give to those just coming into this field of medical fitness?
My advice would be to never stop learning but also to develop relationships. You can be the most knowledgeable person but if you can’t find a way to relate to people and get them to trust you, you won’t be as successful. You want people to look forward to meeting with you. Knowledge is power but compassion is key.
Thank you, Katy, for your thoughtful advice!
