Connor McNeil, ACE C-PT
Say hi to Connor McNeil, the Assistant Director at the Riverside Wellness and Fitness Centers in Newport News and Gloucester, VA. He has been with the facility for the past two years and eight months working his way up the ladder! Connor started as the Fitness Coordinator, moved into the Interim Director position while the facility looked for a new Director and is now the Assistant Director…well done!!
Connor has a BS in Sport and Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University and an MS in Coaching and Sports Administration from Concordia University-Irvine.
We caught up with Connor recently and here’s what he had to say…
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The most enjoyable aspect of my job is seeing members of the facility and patients in our clinical wellness programs improve their quality of life through lifestyle changes and dedication to exercise. Seeing members and patients make great strides in their recovery and overall health brings a great feeling of accomplishment.
What one piece of advice would you give to those just coming into this field of medical fitness?
Relationship building and rapport with not only members and employees of the facility, but doctors, nurses, and physical therapists in the health system is imperative. It is important to keep providers informed of their patient’s progress and provide data to support the effectiveness of programs.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Sports and fitness have always been two of my passions. I am an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Boston Bruins, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and West Virginia Mountaineers. I enjoy exercising and any activity related to being on or near the water. I have a wife, Madison, a young daughter, and a Yellow Lab named Swoop.
Thank you, Connor, for doing what you do!
