Meet Laura Neiberg, FMFA
Laura Neiberg, FMFA is the Vice President, Service Line Operations and Growth for Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, a 300- bed hospital facility in Downers Grove, Illinois. She has worked there for 30+ years, starting out as the Occupational Therapy Supervisor and working her way up to the VP position she holds today. In one of her previous roles, Laura headed up a team that conceived, designed and built the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, a 90,000-sq. ft. medical fitness center that includes 60,000 sq. ft. of fitness space, 20,000 of outpatient PT/OT space and a 10,000-sq. ft. Spine Center that is staffed by neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and pain specialists. The Wellness Center has supported Good Samaritan’s service area for 20 years.
In her current role, Laura reports to the hospital’s Chief Executive and is a key member of the hospital’s executive leadership team. Key duties include operational oversight and business development for Health and Wellness Services (including the Wellness Center), Cardiovascular and Diagnostic Imaging services, Oncology, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory and Endoscopy services, Physical Rehabilitation Services (PT/OT/ST), Facilities, Design and Construction and the hospital’s award-winning employee wellness program called “Good Health for Good Life”. The hospital is a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient for 2010 (one of only 20 hospitals in the country recognized with this honor since the program’s inception in 1988), and a three-time Gold award winner from the Worksite Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA). The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center was recognized by the Medical Fitness Association in 2007 as the “Distinguished Fitness Facility >50,000 sq. ft.” and was awarded Medical Fitness Facility Certification in 2016. The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center has also been rated amongst the top facilities for quality in the Chicago area 5 times by “Chicago Consumers’ Checkbook Magazine”.
Laura has been a featured speaker at several national conferences on topics including, “Connecting the Dots: Strengthening the Cardiac Rehabilitation to Fitness Center Transition”, “The Medical Fitness Advantage for Physicians”, “Health and Fitness Centers in an Integrated Delivery System”, “Wellness Centers in the Continuum of Care and Selling it to the Board”.
Laura holds a Master of Management in marketing and hospital & health services administration from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois. She is also a Healthier Communities fellow through the AHA/Health Forum. Laura has served on the Board of Directors for the Medical Fitness Association and served as the Association’s first Chairperson from 1998-1999. MFA’s “Don Schneider Special Recognition” was awarded to Laura in 2003 and she has been a Medical Fitness Association Fellow since 2013. She also serves on several local community boards such as the DuPage Health Coalition, Chamber 630 (Downers Grove and Woodridge), and the District 58 Education Foundation. In her spare time, Laura likes to play golf, go to the theatre and travel. She’s been fortunate to have seen, China, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa, India, England, Canada, Mexico as well as many countries in the Caribbean. She plans to travel to the Holy Land this fall.
