Meet Sandy Duncan
Sandy Duncan has been a member of MFA for over 15 years. She is the manager of Fitness Plus for Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as well as their second location in Dexter, Missouri that opened in the summer of 2016. Sandy holds a Master’s degree in Health & Fitness Administration and has worked in the field for over 20 years. She is also a certified exercise phyisologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and an arthritis aquatics instuctor.
Sandy has been a past State Captain and conference speaker for MFA. She is currently co-chair of the annual conference committee. She was thrilled to be accepted as a MFA Fellow this year and will be recognized at the upcoming conference. She is active in her community serving on a variety of committees related to health and wellness. Sandy loves planning special events such as the Furry 5K, Jingle Bell Run and Senior Health & Fitness Day. Her favorite part of her job is the interactions she gets to have with members, knowing that her facility and staff are improving the lives of those they encounter.
Sandy’s passion is running. She is admittedly slow but loves the journey. It’s a love she shares with her husband. She has completed 10 marathons and is training for her next. Her most proud moment was being awarded a 1st place Masters Award in the Beer Mile (Ha!). She also enjoys being a member of My Team Triumph which helps those with disabilities participate in road races. She has a son that will be a senior at the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig Sooie!) and a daughter that will be a sophmore in high school this fall.
