Meet Ambre Bjorntvedt
Say hi to Ambre Bjorntvedt! Ambre is the Office Manager in an Outpatient Weight Management Center. She has been there for just under a year.
Ambre has a B.S in Exercise Science from Salisbury University and an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Capella University
As a member of MFA, Ambre serves on the Education Committee and the Conference Committee (thanks, Ambre!!).
You can hear Ambre at this year’s MFA Annual Conference at her session entitled, “Improve Weight Sensitivity at your Fitness Center.”
We caught up with Ambre recently and here is what she had to say.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love being a part of patients’ journey to improve their health. I love when they are able to do something they haven’t been able to do in years such as tie their shoes. I also enjoy mentoring a diverse team of professionals to achieve their own professional goals.
What led you to choose this field?
Originally I wanted to be a doctor. Then I realized the impact I could have on individuals as a fitness professional. I enjoy working in the field of obesity and preventative health and hope to further my career in order to advocate for increased access to care within communities.
What one piece of advice would you give to those just coming into this field of medical fitness?
Medical fitness is a growing field and the opportunities are abundant. I didn’t realize how many opportunities were available until I started networking with MFA members and being engaged and active in the Association. That is my advice–never underestimate the power of networking!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I call myself an introvert with extrovert tendencies. You’ll find me writing, reading, hiking, trying new recipes or hanging out with friends around a bonfire. I love spending time with my family, especially my two toddler nephews. Finally, I am a huge Star Wars fan. So much so that my wedding was Star Wars themed. (Note from MFA: Seriously, check out Ambre’s photos to see her wedding photo – priceless!!)
Thank you, Ambre, we’re so glad you chose this field!
